Method 2: Clearing the cache manually

This is a valid choice when the troubleshooter has failed to correct the problem.

Step 1: For this we have to start Windows 10 in safe mode and one of the ways we can do it is the following.

At system start-up press and hold the F8 key to start safe mode.

Step 2: There click on the option Restart now and we must go to the tab Advanced / Start Configuration to select the option to boot in safe mode.

Step 3: Click on the Restart button and the Windows 10 boot options will be displayed. Enter the number 4 and the system will boot into safe mode.

Step 4: When accessing Windows, in this case 10, in safe mode we will open a terminal of the Command Prompt as administrators and enter the following command:
net stop wuauserv

Step 5: This command is entered in order to stop the Windows Update service.

Step 6: Once the Windows Update service is stopped we go to the next path. There we must delete all the files hosted.

Step 7: Now we can start the Windows Update service by entering the following command at the command prompt.

Method 3: By Windows service update

This option applies to Windows 7 users independent of the system architecture, 32 or 64 bits. We know that Windows 7 installation automatically installs Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or SP1 which makes the process slower than normal and due to this update occasionally the error with Windows Update. Microsoft has provided a solution to correct this problem and consists of the following process.

Step 1: We must go to the control panel, System and Security and there choose the option Change Settings – Change Settings. E n row Important updates establish the option Never check.

Step 2: We restart the computer for the changes to take effect. Once you start Windows 7 again you will need to manually install two updates provided by Microsoft, we must keep in mind the system architecture (32 or 64 bits).

Step 4: Once the updates have been installed we can restart the system and set the automatic updates back to their original state.

Method 4: Install Updates Manually Using WSUS Offline

This tool, although not Microsoft’s own, offers us the possibility of manually downloading the updates available for Windows 7, 8 and 10.
